Typhoon Kammuri (locally named Tisoy) has made landfall 4 times in Gubat Sorsogon, San Pascual, Burias Island Masbte, Torrijos, Marinduque, and Naujuan, Oriental Mindoro. Tisoy is the Philippines’ 20th tropical cyclone for 2019. At least 100,000 families have been affected by the typhoon. Last December 2019, SAFER Foundation activated its appeal SAFER PH: Tisoy to help the vulnerable communities.
Relief goods (rice, groceries, seeds and fertilizer) were distributed to 101 families in Castilla and Pilar, Sorsogon last March 16, 2020. Donations were collected by SAFER Foundation through the Coalition of Bicol Development and PANGOPOD and Jollibee Group Foundation thru LIKAS.
Social distancing was observed during the signing of attendance, orientation and distribution of the relief goods.
SAFER Foundation continues to pool in donations for its Quick Response Fund. This is a proactive strategy wherein SAFER will be ready with the donations even before a disaster strikes. Together we can help build a SAFER Philippines!
