SAFER ignited the bayanihan spirit in time for the birthday celebration of Jose Rizal last December 30, 2020. The donation of Enshored to SAFER’s Rolly campaign supported the local initiative of People’s Disaster Risk Reduction Network, Inc. (PDRRN) in Barangays San Marcos and Tobrehon in San Miguel, Catanduanes. A total of 175 families received food kits worth P1,550 each.
PDRRN facilitated the distribution and documentation of the Emergency Response.
“There is some abaca left. The other abaca was destroyed from the storm, so we are still thinking about our alternative source of livelihood.”
Kami po ay mag-nanay lang. Desidido naman po ang anak ko na mag-aral. May konting natira pa pong abaca. Natumba ang abaca noong bagyo kaya iniisip pa naming kung saan kami kukuha ng panghanap-buhay.
Evelyn described the emotions she felt during the storm. “I was so scared. My daughter helped me cross the river. I floated using a water jug that is tied to my arm. It was impossible to cross the river. Because of that water jug, I was safe.”
Sobra-sobrang takot ang naramdaman ko. Itinawid po ako ng anak ko, nakasakay po ako sa isang water jug. Nakatali sa kamay ko. Yung ilog po hindi puwede tawiran. Dahil po sa water jug, nakaligtas po ako.
Despite the challenges, Evelyn says that aid given to them has been more than helpful. “I am very thankful to SAFER and Enshored. Their donation is a huge help for us. To all those who sacrificed for us, thank you very much!”

Evelyn ends the interview by seeking for more help. “If anyone else wants to help us, my daughter really wants to finish (her studies.)”

Enshored also funded the Typhoon Rolly response in Camarines Sur. Enshored donated a total of 1 Million Pesos for the response.
