SAFER, in partnership with The National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) Desert Mountain Region / Filipino Veterans Group, Inc and Philippine Humanitarian Coalition (PHC) augmented funds to Community Organizers Multiversity (COM) for their food kit distribution project. This is a continuing effort of SAFER for COVID-19 Emergency Response. From March until July of this year, SAFER had already served 954 families in Navotas. (Read: here)
NaFFA, based in the United States, launched ”Tulong Sulong,” a campaign to raise funds for COVID-19 victims in the Philippines. It is through this campaign that they were able to donate 1,000 USD (P48,218.35) to SAFER.
COM is an NGO who provides training, organizing assistance and interventions to Community Organizers and Development Workers. They also provide support for environment, housing & land rights, ancestral domain and labor issues. COM They distributed the food kits to 100 families in Payatas on August 26, 2020. Each food kit contained 2.7 kilos of rice, 2 cans of sardines, 2 packs of noodles, 250 ml of cooking oil, and 1 kilo of sugar.

Arnold Campolio is a single parent who is also having a hard time going back to work because there is not a lot of transportation available during the pandemic. “Malaking tulong po itong naiparatating niyo sa amin dahil sa epekto ng COVID, dahil hindi pa din po ako makapagtrabaho. Hindi pinapayagan na lahat ay makasakay sa transportation. Nagpapasalamat po kami ng marami dahil ito po ay makakatulong sa aming araw-araw na buhay. Maraming salamat po sa tulong na pinaabot ninyo. Maraming salamat po!”

“This is a big help for us because we have a hard time going back to work since the pandemic. Not a lot are allowed to ride the transportations. We are thankful for the aid that will help us in our daily life. Thank you very much!”
Josephine Valenzuela is another solo parent with 3 children. “Isa akong kasambahay pero hindi nakakapagtrabaho gawa ng COVID. Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa SAFER. Isa po itong biyaya para sa aming lahat.”
