Ten days after Typhoon Rolly hit the Philippines, Typhoon Ulysses caused additional damage, flooding, and loss of life. The donation of Enshored to SAFER’s Rolly Campaign supported the local initiative of Caritas Libmanan in order to jumpstart their recovery. The Coalition of Bicol Development (CBD) assisted with the coordination. Areas covered were Baliuag Nuevo, Baliuag Viejo, and San Jose in Minalabac, Camarines Sur. A total of 275 families received sleeping kits worth P1,000 each.
One of the recipients of the sleeping kits is Irene Borne, 36 years old, and is the mother of a child who is a Person with Disability (PWD) in San Jose. Although her house was not damaged, she felt great anxiety about the rising of the flood. “If the flood went higher, I wouldn’t know where my child can go because he is unable to walk.”
Another recipient is Ana Krista Sanitaro, 33 years old from Baliuag Nuevo. “The typhoon was too strong, we didn’t know where to go. We also had children with us.”
The communities expressed their gratitude to SAFER and its partners who helped alleviate their current situation. “Thank you to Enshored and to SAFER for this”, exclaimed Ana after receiving the sleeping kit.
“Some of our kits were lost because of the flood. Thank you SAFER and Enshored for these sleeping kits.”
The success of the Emergency Response is a testament to the kind hearts of Enshored’s employees and the company’s support towards localization. Enshored donated 1 Million Pesos for the Typhoon Rolly Emergency Response.
